Old river rock sounds like a good idea until it isn't. Over time, it traps mud, collects debris, and starts looking more like a mess than a feature. That's exactly what we were dealing with here - 6 inches of compacted river rock that had seen better days. Getting it out was the first order of business.

Once we cleared everything out, we installed new landscape edge block along the entire bed perimeter. That's the part a lot of people skip, and it's the part that makes everything else hold together. A solid edge keeps the mulch where it belongs, gives the bed a defined shape, and separates the lawn from the landscaping in a way that just looks intentional.

Fresh red mulch went in last. The color contrast against the gray edge block and the house siding is sharp. It's the kind of update that reads as well-maintained from the street - which matters more than most homeowners realize when it comes to overall property appearance.

This was a repeat client, which we always take as a good sign. When someone calls us back, it usually means the first job left a good impression. We take that seriously. The goal on every job - first time or fifth time - is to leave the property looking clean, finished, and better than we found it.
